BIOGRAPHY

Celina joined the Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery as a postdoctoral researcher in March 2026, working with the Faculty research group led by Executive Vice Dean Prof. Mary Lynch. Her role currently involves the literature and policy reviews being conducted for the Mental Health Commission partnership, informing key policy updates on the use of electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) as well as admissions, transfer, and discharge practices for mental health patients. She completed her PhD at RCSI as a U.S. Fulbright/RCSI StAR funded researcher, where her work examined patient- and family‑centred caring in paediatric surgery in Malawi. She also holds a Master of Public Health degree with a concentration in global health practice from the University of South Florida, where her research focused on community action to mitigate drought impacts in rural Uganda. Her broader research portfolio includes work on patient‑centred care for mental health service users who rely on assistive devices, and addressing dynamic health disparities for vulnerable refugee and migrant farmworker populations in the south-eastern United States. Celina has also taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses in public health, infectious disease control, and health policy and economics.
