BIOGRAPHY

Dr David McEvoy is a Senior Postdoctoral Researcher and Epidemiologist with CONVERGE (Centre for Chronic Disease and Population Health Research) in the RCSI School of Population Health. His research has primarily focused on psychiatric epidemiology, particularly self-harm and mental health in young people, alongside work in infectious disease epidemiology, environmental health and implementation science. Before pursuing an academic research career, he spent over 12 years as a secondary school teacher, an experience that continues to inform his interest in mental health and wellbeing among young people. His current research interests centre on the intersection of mental health and chronic disease, particularly psycho-oncology and the relationship between psychiatric conditions and diabetes. He is interested in applying longitudinal epidemiology and causal inference methods to population health data to strengthen the evidence base for disease prevention and improve health outcomes.
