RESEARCH OVERVIEW
Professor Henshall's laboratory is studying cell and molecular mechanisms of epilepsy. His research team combines cell and molecular biology techniques, data science and bioinformatics, pharmacology, neuroscience and behaviour, imaging and histology, and employs a range of experimental and human models.
The main research interests of his group are: (1) the role and therapeutic potential of non-coding RNA (including microRNA) in epilepsy; (2) Epigenetics and signalling pathways underlying endogenous programmes of neuroprotection; (3) circulating biomarkers of seizures and epilepsy; (4) Stereo-EEG based integration of molecular and neurophysiology data in presurgical epilepsy patients.
