RESEARCH OVERVIEW
My research interest is the neuropathological investigation of psychiatric disorders I have internationally recognised expertise in the cytoarchitectural investigation of brain and the neuronal and glial cell populations within it, in schizophrenia, major depression and bipolar disorder. I also have an interest in epilepsy and neuronal migration disorders, and am currently undertaking series of cytoarchitectural investigations of these disorders in comparison to schizophrenia. More recently, in an attempt to study the basis of cellular changes that I have observed, I have undertaken proteomic studies. These have revealed disease-associated protein changes which implicate metabolic and glycolytic pathways. I am undertaking pharmco-proteomic investigations which are aimed, primarily, at distinguishing disease associated from drug treatment - associated protein changes
