Lucia Brocato is the Programme Manager of the RCSI/COSECSA Collaboration Programme, funded by Irish Aid through the Department of Foreign Affairs. The programme supports the Colleges of Surgeons, Anaesthesiologists, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, and Nursing across East, Central and Southern Africa to strengthen education, training, examinations, research, and institutional development in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Previously, Lucia worked at the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) as Director of Research Grants & Projects, where she led the development of three European web-based ophthalmology quality registries under EU-funded programmes, supporting benchmarking and data-driven improvement for clinicians and health authorities.
