RESEARCH OVERVIEW

Steffi Tiburcius's research spans two interconnected themes: musculoskeletal disease and cancer nanomedicine. Her current focus is on personalized orthobiologic therapies for osteoarthritis and joint disease, with an emphasis on understanding and modulating inflammatory pathways in bone and cartilage. She is also interested in the development of biomarker-based assessment tools to inform clinical decision-making in joint disease management.

Her prior research centred on the design and synthesis of mesoporous silica nanoparticles including core-shell and egg-yolk architectures for targeted drug delivery in prostate cancer. Broader research interests include biosensing applications of mesoporous carbon nitrides, nanoporous materials for lung and skin cancer therapy, and CO₂ adsorption materials.
