BIOGRAPHY

Frank is associate professor at the School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Sciences and Institutional Lead for Open Research at RCSI. He is also a visiting research fellow at The Irish Longitudinal Study on Ageing (TILDA), where is medications lead. His research focuses on improving care for people using multiple medicines (polypharmacy), in particular through deprescribing and effective medicines policy. His work aims to enhance the methods we use to evaluate the effects of deprescribing using routinely collected health data, and applying these to produce evidence that guides personalised approaches to reduce risk of medication harm.

Frank is Vice Chair of the Research Data Governance Board of the CSO's Health Research Data Centre, and is a member of the steering committee for the Network of European Researchers in Deprescribing (NERD). Frank is an affiliate with medRxiv, the preprint server for health sciences, and is also a member of the editorial boards of Research in Social and Administrative Pharmacy and the Journal of Multimorbidity and Comorbidity.

Frank completed his undergraduate at the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Trinity College Dublin, and registered as a pharmacist having completed his MPharm at RCSI. Following a period of working in community pharmacy, Frank undertook his PhD as part of the SPHeRE programme in RCSI, the national doctoral training programme in population health and health services research. His doctoral research focused on the impact of potentially inappropriate prescribing on economic and patient outcomes. He was previously senior research fellow at the HRB Centre for Primary Care Research at the Department of General Practice, RCSI.
