RESEARCH OVERVIEW

Professor Nazar's research examines how pharmacy and pharmacists can be more fully integrated into the wider health and social care system, with a particular focus on the transitions patients make between hospital and home. Her work has evaluated and helped design services such as hospital-to-community pharmacy referral, transfer-of-care interventions, and medicines support for people with long-term conditions including COPD, generating evidence that has informed national policy and practice in the UK. A second strand of her research addresses pharmacy and interprofessional education, including the assessment of interprofessional collaboration, the design and evaluation of student-led clinical services (drawing on frameworks such as RE-AIM), and the use of digital tools in both healthcare delivery and pharmacy training. Across this work, she has a consistent interest in health inequalities and underserved populations, and in using realist and mixed-methods approaches to understand not just whether interventions work, but how and for whom.
