IMPACT AND ENGAGEMENT OVERVIEW
Beyond her published research, Professor Nazar has a sustained record of building capacity in others. She has supervised or co-supervised a wide range of PhD students to completion across health services research and pharmacy/medical education, and has provided ongoing mentorship to early-career researchers and practising pharmacists seeking to develop their research and educational portfolios — work reflected in her membership of the NIHR Academy's working group to Support People into Research and her role chairing the Royal Pharmaceutical Society's Credentialling Committees. She led the development of the Culturally Competent Research Framework (CCRF), a practical toolkit designed to embed cultural competence and reflexivity across the research lifecycle, now in use to support more inclusive research design and delivery. Her most visible impact, however, is Young@Heart: the undergraduate pharmacy student-led clinic she piloted in 2019, which has grown to provide blood pressure, cardiovascular and healthy lifestyle services across Newcastle and Gateshead, and has since been adopted as a model by other Schools of Pharmacy and Medicine. The clinic's contribution to student learning and community health was recognised with a Newcastle University Vice-Chancellor's Excellence in Education Award and a Higher Education Academy Collaborative Award for Teaching Excellence (CATE).
